This reminds me of a family story

When I was living in Montréal with Paul and the kids, I used to watch Homicide. I found it a quite remarkable show. I’m watching it again, with Jeff, and if anything it’s even better than the first time around, as I think I am a more observant and trenchant critic. But it’s sure got [...]
My dinner partay started off, amusingly, with me calling Mike around 5 and reminding him that we were set for dinner tonight. After a very long pause (during which I began to worry about him), he sheepishly admitted that he was hanging out with his new squeeze. I assured him that it was okay and [...]
This stop motion film smashes graffiti into animation with rather stunning results.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s acoustic version of Blue on Black. I was sitting in the driveway of a friend’s house rolling the dial up and down when I caught the first few bars of the guitar, and then sat mesmerized while I listened. It took me almost ten years to figure out who it was singing [...]
So, time’s arrow flies in both directions, but when it flies backwards it erases all trace of itself. It’s a theory.
The panopticon yields some very funny video.
Beautiful and elegaic.
I was 11 or 12 when this pic was taken. I have zero recollection of the costume, but I recognize the Duncan Macpherson cartoon on the wall and the photo was taken when we were living in the married students’ quarters at UWO. Wowzers, but that was a long time ago.
It’s a solidarity thing. Now we know! I hate crying. I feel sick afterwards, unless I’m crying from happiness, like I did during that harbour to harbour flight while realizing that I wanted to live on the west coast, and when Katie was born and I knew she was a girl.
The BC Civil Liberties Association, which, Darwin aid me, I gave money to last year, has requested through Freedom of Information to have the street closures for the Olympics publicly available. They’ve requested three times and the Integrated Security Unit has told them to suck wind. I AM FLEEING THE CITY FOR THE OLYMPICS. Jeff, [...]
Really thought provoking article about the ‘institution’ of marriage by a gay writer in Seattle. An 8 minute video about Medicare. For Americans, by Canadians. Rational, good tempered and funny in spots. Adolf Hitler doesn’t like Avatar. The last line slew me. Three minutes or so long. How come and for why hasn’t this extra [...]
But the coroner ain’t sayin’.
It’s difficult, when you’re not an art historian or otherwise an art geek, to assess the value of seeing a real Vermeer or a real Rembrandt. But it is supposed to be good for one, so I accompanied daughter Katie to the current exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery and was happy to be thrust [...]
zow… that’s all I can say.
