YEAH Wikipedia. I have seen criticisms about accuracy and such, but the only OTHER place I could find information about an obscure 1842 religious pamphlet referred to by my great-grandfather in his diary is the Australia National Library. And when other material of this nature is presented on Wikipedia as scanned from the original I am QUITE prepared to accept what I find as accurate. If it weren’t for Wikipedia my footnotes to GGfather’s diary would be a lot less interesting, and much of what he wrote a century and a half ago would be incomprehensible. So I repeat, Yeah Wikipedia and long may it continue to be polite but feisty in its responses to “the insolence of office.”
