Fascinating! But the biology doesn’t check out. The critters that eat the soft-bodied pests like thrips and aphids are the LARVAE of the ladybug – which look remarkably different, are much larger, and are voracious, growing at a great rate due to their high consumption of said comestibles.
That’s a shame. I love Ladybugs AND was very much looking forward to them taking care of the green bugs that seem to come with Columbines! You don’t suppose the released Ladybugs would stick around for a full life cycle so that their Larvae would still be in the vicinity?
