Made a bunch of deletions so the word count has gone down.  This is definitely one of the disadvantages of posting a daily word count.

brO off to the Gadget House.

Lunch at Paul’s on Thursday, it was lovely to see Alex.  He’s starting to use more consonants. Jeff was rather put off by his eating style, which doesn’t involve much eating, but much mashing of substances.

Got a very nice no thanks email from the place I last interviewed. As usual I’m off my feed for a couple of days while the continuing rejection of the market settles in my gut, but ah, well. It’s a numbers game.

Not exactly progress.

Lunch at Planet Bachelor today.

After a good night of sleep, a terrible, terrible one.  Went back to sleep and woke up again at 9:15.  blerg.

Ordered Mike and Nita’s wedding present after conferring with the family.

Interview was good.  There’s a lot of competition and I probably won’t get a call back but hey, it was an interview and it’s a numbers game.

Very proud of myself.  Went to bed last night early, telling myself that I had to get a good night of sleep for the interview today, and I a) blocked out all the light coming into my room b) left the computer in the next room and c) wore earplugs. As a consequence I got seven solid hours of sleep (I remember coming to a couple of times but rolled over and went back to sleep without difficulty.

As one can see, progress continues on the last novel in the trilogy.

Caravaggio masterpiece recovered.

Couldn’t sleep for the rat in my room last night. Buster did not get it. Sigh.

I’m watching a new BBC show called The Last Kingdom.  It fits in very neatly with my previous readings and interests; the Adventure of English documentary, King Hereafter by Dorothy Dunnett, and of course it’s wonderful to see the extent to which they’ve made the clothing very accurate, including the pale dyes and the use of fur and frogs for fasteners. Also, lead player super hot.

It’s gonna be interesting, jamming everything into 25K words.

Cora’s Burnaby is terrible. It’s only their 5th day open, but Jeff and I had a breakfast experience that is driving us back into the arms of IHOP.

I actually wrote more than that but I haven’t transferred it from handwriting into Scrivener so that will come later.

Second day no light in bathroom. Landlord informed, waiting on electrician or whoever they think is cheap enough to be allowed to do the work.

I’ve been here since noon

In a couple of minutes they’ll call the flight and I’ll find out if I’ve been sitting here like a fucking idiot for no good reason for the last day. Fort St John is not a fun place to fly to on passes.  PAUL WANTS TO TAKE THE SKYTRAIN HOME.  On April 4.  With no Compass card. My feelings are simple.  He can do what he likes, although with no Compass card he’s not likely to get far, as I laboriously explained to him.  I’m going home in a cab; it’s hours after my normal bedtime and I have hours to go before somebody offers up a bed for me.

later….

Home.  What a fucking waste of a day.  Three flights came and went and I’m not going to FSJ unless somebody pays for my return flight.

Some man was shot dead a few blocks from here.  I don’t think I want to live on this planet any more.
