Paul and I had a simple lovely walk yesterday.  Salmonberry petals had fallen in a row against the beaver dam in Deer Lake Park. The sun was warm, the breeze cool, and while we heard and saw no frogs the birds were singing beautiful songs, and songs I don’t recollect hearing before. Prob’ly migrants.

I have new wraparound sunglasses and they work really well, although they make me look like a frikkin’ mafiosa.

I am starting to run a fairly severe Alex deficit, I wonder if I’ll be able to see him today.

Much good progress, 16K words to go.

Watched the absolutely hilarious German Hitler comedy Look Who’s Back. Highly, highly recommended, well thought out, and with at least a couple of scenes that made me laugh very, very hard.

Made a bunch of deletions so the word count has gone down.  This is definitely one of the disadvantages of posting a daily word count.

brO off to the Gadget House.

Lunch at Paul’s on Thursday, it was lovely to see Alex.  He’s starting to use more consonants. Jeff was rather put off by his eating style, which doesn’t involve much eating, but much mashing of substances.

Got a very nice no thanks email from the place I last interviewed. As usual I’m off my feed for a couple of days while the continuing rejection of the market settles in my gut, but ah, well. It’s a numbers game.

Not exactly progress.

Lunch at Planet Bachelor today.

After a good night of sleep, a terrible, terrible one.  Went back to sleep and woke up again at 9:15.  blerg.

Ordered Mike and Nita’s wedding present after conferring with the family.

Interview was good.  There’s a lot of competition and I probably won’t get a call back but hey, it was an interview and it’s a numbers game.

Very proud of myself.  Went to bed last night early, telling myself that I had to get a good night of sleep for the interview today, and I a) blocked out all the light coming into my room b) left the computer in the next room and c) wore earplugs. As a consequence I got seven solid hours of sleep (I remember coming to a couple of times but rolled over and went back to sleep without difficulty.

As one can see, progress continues on the last novel in the trilogy.

Caravaggio masterpiece recovered.
