Very pleased with my progress today.

Heroes and heroines drive convertibles. the folks, updated for sexism
Never blame mean for dumb. (Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately accounted for by stupidity.)
I’m glad you showed up, I only had one bus ticket. John again.
Thirty, officer, m a y b e thirty-one. Ron Mahadeo, after making a London ON police officer chase him about ten miles and being asked how fast he was going.
I bet you don’t know something that I don’t know that I’m not going to tell you. Katie aged 7
We’re going to Mars????? Katie aged 4, She asked me where we were going, and I said TAMAR’S and that was her response.
What’s left of him is very dead indeed. (from Wrong Box.)
We used to suck, but now we blow. (from a memorable customer service interaction back in the day regarding what kind of exhaust fan the inverters have.)
“Sir I understand your disappointment with the product but I can’t rearrange the laws of physics or remove the warnings from the user guide!” same same
The earth gravities my mind system, and I forget things. (Keith, aged 6).
They’re cooking their dinner in a garbage can! (Keith, aged 4).

It’s a wonderful day for pie! (Family Guy)

A low standard to be sure – one of John’s faves.
Que l’on continue.
This is what Lucien Bouchard wrote to his well wishers when he got flesh-eating disease.
Like many French idioms it doesn’t translate well. It is a well bred way to say Keep on Trucking. It literally means ‘which is continous’ so it has echoes of ‘I’m still standing’ as well. Anyway, it’s one of my favourite franco-canadian idioms and I think it applies during the writing process as well.
Paul and I went walking at Burnaby Fraser Foreshore Park yesterday and it was so frikkin hot I was a cheese melt by the time I got back. Thank you Paul it was necessary to get out!
Jeff and I have already shopped, glad not to do it in the heat of the day. I think this rain is going to burn off, you can feel it.
Don’t worry, it’s coming together, and I should still meet my Mother’s Day Deadline!!!
Jerome’s party was wonderful. He and Shannon have made a beautiful home.
Today I will probably not be writing that much. I was out really late and I’m severely underslept. Reading the second book in the Expanse series.
Keith was over for the last croissant and coffee. Wonderful to see him.
As you can see, 9k to go.
Not exactly a rest day, but I have to buy and prep some veggies for Jerome’s partay.
Jerome and I met at Statpower back in the day; the first year I knew him I wrote “An evening of serious drinking” for his birthday. It was SUCH a hit in our little crowd that literally they would drag me out of the biffy …or elsewhere … to start the evening’s festivities by singing it a capella in front of the fire.
Jerome has migrated from being a young guy grabbing (deleted because the internet is forever) to being a sober-sided paterfamilias with two delightful pjokk-vikings and a gorgeous, hilarious and briskly efficient wife. I approve of damned near everything about Jerome. Just so you all know. We can go months without seeing each other, but that doesn’t matter. He is MEIN VOLK, in the undiscovered cousins way. I did actually formally take him to my mother and adopt him as a family member in front of the family Godswood. (Or atheist equivalent, don’t jar the metaphor too hard.)
SO CLOSE TO THE END YAAARRRGH
Jeff baked croissants from Vancouver Croissants for brekky this morning.
They are DELISH.
Allergies driving me nuts.. Scotch broom is in bloom. Work continues.
Work continues. Coffee is a mental blessing and an intestinal trial.
Call the Midwife is a wonderful show, glad there’s going to be more of it.
I paid for a book recently, Leviathan Wakes, which is the basis for The Expanse, and I am totes loving it.
Lovely meal at the pub last night with Mike and Jeff. Very disturbed night’s sleep, just woke up.
I think I’m going to take today off from writing and putter along with some chores.
Paul and I had a simple lovely walk yesterday. Salmonberry petals had fallen in a row against the beaver dam in Deer Lake Park. The sun was warm, the breeze cool, and while we heard and saw no frogs the birds were singing beautiful songs, and songs I don’t recollect hearing before. Prob’ly migrants.
I have new wraparound sunglasses and they work really well, although they make me look like a frikkin’ mafiosa.
I am starting to run a fairly severe Alex deficit, I wonder if I’ll be able to see him today.
Work continues. I made a marginally successful breakfast yesterday. Good swossages are like the frikkin’ grail.
Grond crawls on.
Today I’m making a Sunday brunchy thing for us. I hope those turkey swossages are decent.
Much good progress, 16K words to go.
Watched the absolutely hilarious German Hitler comedy Look Who’s Back. Highly, highly recommended, well thought out, and with at least a couple of scenes that made me laugh very, very hard.
