2. okay, not fact. Since we weren’t there it would be hard to ever know for sure….

3. DNA evidence CAN be convincing. But you’re right, certainty is not available to us, not beyond a reasonable doubt. Perhaps, in time, “on the balance of probabilities…” I for one would like it if – on the balance of probabilities – it turned out I have Neanderthal DNA.
