Sounds like a burglar’s shopping list when it’s hacked. Am I getting too cynical?

I had the exact same thought. Reminds me a little bit of the enterprising band of thieves who got their hands on film crew lists, and knowing the people on it would be away 16 hours a day, started targeting those addresses. Most crew lists now only include phone numbers and emails…
But… but… only cops can see the license plate information!

I have been told that the motor vehicle licensing office is like a sheltered workshop for biker molls and the close relatives of various other gang members. I’m not sure I believe it, but I can certainly see how access to that information would make life easier for various categories of malfeasants.
