After many attempts at exercise of various sorts, I strungled with the same 5 lbs over the last few years. When I looked at how much exercise I had to do to burn just 250 calories; I decided to cut out dessert and reduce my portion sizes. I have lost 10 pounds and intend to loose another 10 by Christmas.
awesome!!!! Eating less, that strange concept I can never seem to grasp.
Thanks Allegra! I’m hoping I will be back in some of my clothes and will treat myself with a new outfit when I loose another 10 lbs.
Aside: When I realized it was all about Math, a light went off. I said numbers I can understand. If calories consumed exceed calories burned each day, I gain weight. If calories burned exceed calories consumed, I loose weight.
When I look at a calorie heavy goodie (fancy coffee, piece of cake, etc.) I ask myself, “Do I want to do 20 extra minutes on the Cybex, Treadmill or whatever just to burn off this treat?”. This is an honest question and “No, I don’t want to work that hard for the treat”.
The one thing I haven’t figured out yet is whether I have to make my portion sizes a little smaller to loose the next 10 lbs.
