I can imagine the loss Dr. Pepperberg must feel. Allegra, as you know, we have budgies which are the world’s smallest parrot and have the largest recorded vocabulary (they can even out perform the African Grey). These little guys usually live 3-5 years in a breeding environment (and 10-15 years with good diet and no breeding). I did have one male that was 23 years and still going strong.
