Off to the Ferry

I’ll be taking Jeff to the Ferry this morning and probably picking up some veg and hanging around the new place for an hour or so before heading back to the old place to pack.  Daughter Katie is supposed to turn up to help in the afternoon.  I haven’t arranged a mover yet, but hope to do that today as well.

Then I’ll head back here and commune with the kitties until Jeff gets back, and then go home and pack some more.  Life is pretty consistent these days!

I got an email from the Cassini folks.  There’s going to be a within-30k fly-by of Enceladus this upcoming week, so there’s that to look forward to.

All this time we’ve been worried about global warming and with the solar minimum coming on we’re all going straight into the deep freeze.  Why do human beings worry so much about the wrong things?  I still think the global economy’s perched on the edge of collapse.

  1. I think our ancestors faced the coming of global attrocities more stoically. They saw these events as deemed by their god (or gods). Today we are able to control so much that we think think if we worry enough we will figure out how to circumvent the forces of the universe (much of which is pre-determined by the alignment of our sun, the planet, their moons and other influences outside our own solar system).

  2. Well…gotta say it…
    told ya so
For the better part of 3 years now I have been campaigning to get the intelligent people I know off the global warming hype train (and to oppose the carbon tax, which will NOT do anything for global warming, but will do LOTS to compromise your financial status). The carbon tax is merely an attempt to tax air. Looks like it is successful. BC is the first province to bundle such a tax into gas pricees. The rich just keep getting richer. I wonder why?

  3. Well, time will tell if the weather will improve; it certainly looks like spring around here.

  4. Sometimes it’s OK to do something right for the wrong reasons. For instance, reduce air, water and ground pollution — if getting all hyped up about global warming creates initiatives in this direction maybe it’s OK. Sadly when the government taxes corporations and manufacturing plants for emissions, it will probably just be passed onto you and me in the form of higher prices.
