The dear man. He was never wonderful on characterization but nevertheless his characters WERE appealing. I’m thinking, The Deep Range; Childhood’s End; 2001. And I think his Fountains of Paradise finally got my head straigtened around on the subject of space elevators. I had been utterly baffled about that.
