Since, in the light of later events, it appears that they had legitimate cause to wish to get out of Iran, and that the theocratic, violent and humiliatingly paternalistic regime of Iran wanted to spank them for their badness, it makes the original decision to deny their refugee claim look incorrect.

So if you want to actually follow the “rule of Law” trail, all these guys have been doing is trying to mitigate the original incorrect decision by los migros. They spent a lot of money and did a lot of illegal things to get back to the country of their son’s birth, but it all started with a bad legal decision and no amount of wiggling about the rule of law is going to scotch that.
