Various activities

First, a Lindy Hop Flashmob from Vancouver.

Wasn’t that adorable?  Ziva’s off to the krankenhaus today to get her brakes looked at (they are working fine as far as I can tell but a panic stop or even a hard stop brings the brake light on).

I didn’t post yesterday and I didn’t even notice… maybe my internet addiction is controllable after all.

I do know that my mood, which has been miserable, has improved markedly.

Good visit

It was great to see mOm.  Just before I went to pick her up a great blue heron flew super close to me and then sat on the roof of the garage across the street and gave me the staredown.  Very odd.  Then another great blue heron flew over our heads as we dropped her off.

Paul’s off to Ontario for a couple of weeks.  He has an action packed itinerary and will be seeing many of the people I saw last October.

True Blood was great, and since Jeff hasn’t seen it yet I can’t say a word about it.

In the spirit of Treme, this sucks.

Train wreck

1.  I didn’t want to be at church this am.  My mOm’s in town.

2.  Nobody else volunteered to open after two appeals by the board member who got a competing (good reason, though) event and so could not open.  So I did.  My training consisted of being told what to do, nothing in writing, and being handed two keys.

3.  I got to the church and discovered that the set up person and both greeters hadn’t turned up in a timely way.  So there I am slinging hymnals and folding orders of service, but the GREAT THING ABOUT BEACON is that if somebody sees you doing something they come and HELP.  So after about ten minutes I was no longer crabby.  I wasn’t there by myself and it was all good.

4.  The service I will not complain about although I could.  There is a reason why intergenerational services aren’t as well attended as other services once you get past the notion that all the kids are there so their parents are too.  Any time I see the little-littles I get all goofy in the smile department.

5.  If you’re closing as well as opening, you have to be the last person to leave.  I put the key in the front door and it didn’t flipping work.  I breathed a silent prayer of thanksgiving that the caretaker was on site, conveyed my sad intelligence that I couldn’t lock the flipping front door, and went home and poured myself a very well deserved beer.  Thus concludes the train wreck portion of the morning, with one final comment.  If we don’t do something about the fucking sound system, I’m going to go all Doukhobor at the next church service and either strip naked or torch something or both.

6.  Then conveyed mOm to Katie’s place and exposed her to the many animals there.

7.  Then conveyed mOm to Paul’s place for Tea and Macadamia nut cookies.

8.  Now the smell of roast pork is filling the house.  Aiming to get the roast out about 4:15, 4:30.

9.  Then, I will convey mOm to the ferry.  Then, TRUE BLOOD and TREME.  Life is good.

No flowers, but applause

Training was interesting.  Kinda therapeutic. At ten after five, Nick pinned me to the wall with the fiercest (while most entirely civil) riposte I’ve experienced in many months.  I’m still reeling from it.  The set up would take about six months, so let’s skip that part.

Prior to that, I didn’t buy the IT guy flowers but I did applaud when the QA guy prompted me to.  I mean, really.  Expend a few calories in appreciation?  No problem.

OMFG.  There were leftovers at the potluck and SOMEBODY MADE POUTINE.  I’ve been happy in my life, but when I saw real live poutine I nearly died of joy.  And I’d already eaten.  And, what about that England -Algeria game?  The Algerians won, nil-nil.

Watched Transporter III, and I would viddy Jason Statham attempting Shakespeare, I love him so.

Must go crash now.

My sense of humour has been rebooted

All men are alike.  It’s tragic, but it’s also funny.  Any further details (recent) supporting this contention will result in drama, so I’m going to pass over that.

Watched Age of Stupid.  I know the point wasn’t to make me want to kill myself, but honestly, it’s a damned dark movie.  Even so, I still feel better than I did this time yesterday.

Light day at work today – training session on the new call center software.  I should buy flowers for the IT guy on the way in to work.

Jericho and Ziva

At one point in the evening I looked out to see five bunnies frolicking on the grass next to the club.

Mike and I killed a pitcher of beer and ate burgers and dogs and yam fries.  The sun and the mountains and the water put us in a damned good mood.

Then….. one of the BEST BEST BEST open mics ever, including a beautiful rendition of Wild Mountain Thyme (Mike and I admitted to each other after that we wept, thinking of John).  The duo as the main event I’ve seen before (they inspired me to get a laptop snare) and they were awesome, I LOVE their choice of material.   At the half Grant and Rozo appeared (Rozo used to be Vilma) and it was so good to see them.

Watched soccer at lunch yesterday at work.  I was the only woman in the room.  It was the Brazil PRK game.

Then I showed off Ziva and drove Mike home.  Mike enjoyed not having to drive for a change; he called it a rare treat, and ya gotta love a sunroof on a night like that.
