I’m surprised how provocative and suggestive this ad is considering its timing, but maybe the Germans (and Europeans) were ahead of us in this regard. Or maybe it was my Mom & Dad’s background, religion and beliefs that sheltered us from anything that they thought fell into the category “unfit for the children’s eyes”. I recall my father getting up in the middle of a TV show or movie and abruptly turning the channel with a “Show’s over kids!”. WE SAW NOTHING as Dad was pretty good at anticipating and censuring. I’m sure this ad would not have got past my Dad!
