Interesting. I’m the opposite. Was much closer to my paternal grandmother. My maternal grandmother was, in a word, mean.
I think I would have been closer to my maternal grandmother, but she died when my Mom was 8. What’s left for me to know my grandmother are letters she wrote to her husband, her mother and other family members, as well as my mother and aunts’ memories.
the only grand I knew was dad’s mom, the rest were names, dad’s dad dead already, mom’s parents across the country so no interaction. The ordering may depend on their presence
