Friday night falldown goes mobile

Last night me and Jeff and Paul and Keith and ScaryClown went to the Peak for dinner and then to Inception at the Dolphin afterwards.  We could have gone to see the Blue Meenies at the John B Pub afterwards but it was 9:30 when we got out of the theatre and I was ready to go home.  I dropped ScaryClown off at Brentwood and headed home in the lovely cool dusk.

Inception is not a classic movie – by me – but it sure is visually stunning and challenging, and I enjoyed it immensely.

Cavalcade of Cheese (part III)

Patricia has moved in with her partner Damian and they invited me, Leeanne, Keith and some random dude who used to live in Australia over to their place to talk about Australia.  Because Keith is thinking of going there. It was loads of fun.

The folks have a beautiful apartment – a loft with nice views – and we had much amazing cheese and some lovely conversation.

Ziva continues to run well.  I asked Keith when I was driving him home if we could slow down the return journey and skip the highway – I went down Government Street with the Tunnel of Trees.

Yesterday I took my guitar in to work and practiced at lunch.  I got all the way through Ramboing x 3 and then did Don’t you Weep.

Hilariously unprintable

…. the contents of a phone call last night.  My personal life continues to be serene on the surface, at least.

In other news, I phoned Paul night before last and said, “We have to make an album.”  So last night instead of going to Jericho (Mike was working anyway) we practiced Ramboing, Ericka’s Song and Come Out.  The list of tunes we want to work on is much higher than twenty, and both of us are appalled at the prospect of securing rights, but, I guess we have to.  Fortunately for my stuff that’s something I don’t need to worry about.

FCC body checked.

Memorials

Warning Sea-Catte.

The new header is from David Dowker’s Machine Language.

Yesterday we had a memorial service for Gizmo and other lost pets, John Caspell and other of his relatives, Unca Dave and others, and Granny and others.  I know, it sounds kind of weird, but it was a very good memorial and I cried buckets.  Then we sang and played, including Orphan Girl and Hallelujah.  Paul brought the 12 string Guild (a MANNNNN’s guitar) and played It Takes a Lot to Laugh it Takes a Train to Cry, and Wild Mountain Thyme, and Willie’s Diamond Joe, and much else.  It was a moving and challenging day, and we all got through it okay, but I could have done without Auntie Mary saying that she couldn’t go through another one of those again and can she please go first.

Love and loss let us know what’s important.  Love each other while you can!

Elementary, my dear particle

Oh, great. Now we have to rewrite physics AGAIN.

From the same site… Here, have an electric blue worm.

When palaeontologists drink….

Added Book of Eli to the list of movies watched.  Visually awesome, flawed in plot.  Every time I see one of these movies I think… where’s the goddamned food coming from?

Took off work early yesterday to get a massage…. since nobody I actually see on a regular basis is providing one.  Depressing, but there’s divorced life for you.  It’s either pay for it or go without.  Woke up this morning with tingling and numbness in my left hand as a direct consequence of the massage, but everything else feels better.   Massage dude gave me some stretches and reminded me to breathe.  I was testy with him, I admit it.

Memorial service en masse tomorrow.  I’m leaving for the 7 o’clock ferry, we’ll see what everybody else does. I messaged everybody else to either be here at 6 am or find another ride.  I’ll be bringing musical instruments.

I am off to work early to make up for lost time yesterday.

20 parrot tricks in 2 minutes. Just like it sounds.

It’s bloody hot here now.  We go from having the heat on to the air conditioning, it’s truly remarkable.

The things ya see on Wreck Beach

I’m not at Wreck, Mike is (no surprise there) but what he saw at the beach is tres amusant.  Mike was sure he recognized a guy down there and said, “What band are you with?” and the guy, shure as shit, said, “Headwater”.  So now Mike’s seen one of the band members who’ll be playing at Jeff’s birthday party naked.  Vancouver is a lovely town. And a SMALL town.  Don’t piss anybody off, we all either work together, are related, belong to the same dragon boat team or are taking video of your sorry ass.
