Here’s a pic that just makes me go…. Yuck!
And here’s one… mOm – what kind of bird is this?
Just got back from Brentwood Mall, where I ate brunch with Keith and Jeff and ScaryClown. Yup, ScaryClown and Jeff have finally met. Now all of my adoptive brothers have met my real one….
Sparrow configuration, striped underparts, chest spot with radiating lines from spot – if it’s smaller than a house sparrow, it’s a song sparrow. If it’s larger, it’s a fox sparrow. Fox sparrow also tends to be darker brown on the back and wings than song sparrow, but that’s hard to see unless you see the two of them together.
We just saw a black-headed grosbeak at the feeder.
It was a fox sparrow then, because it was big for a sparrow.
