so I experienced flamenco and tango last night and it was magnificent! started off the Latinx flavoured event with pork tacos off a food truck!

excited as hell
I wasn’t exactly stuck on the Michel and Sissy chapter, but I wasn’t wrong to lay the sitch on Mike and ask for his advice. What he came up with raised the stakes – right into a sci fi global caper plot, which I am now trying to figure out how I’d even structure. For the time being I’ll be okay with handwaving, but I need to talk to some IT professionals about the mechanics or it will as they say a real short trip.
Yesterday Mike drove me out to the south beach at Alouette Lake where Trent and Diane and a bunch of their friends and kung fu buddies had set up a campsite IN THE SHADE of the IMMENSE pines, cedars and firs. Since we had already made the 45 minute drive in a convertible with the top down – it was a day of unparalled glory.
Met a few more people, Mike set up the guitar and amp and I yes I accompanied his playing of the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald because that’s how we go.
Welcome Mikko John
Born yesterday in Edmonton to Leo’s youngest and his wife. This adorable tyke has joined one of the most loving and hard working and humane families on earth and boy howdy, how very lucky he is. All well and super tired, as one is.
good day so far
We have more foodicles, including green things! I’m going picnicking at Alouette Lake today with Mike and the usual gang of kung fu masters! The fanfic is over 7K words and I’ve been prepping the Michel and Sissy chapter mentally. I’m listening to Virginia Plain on Spotify (broke down and subscribed yesterday). I’ve got a couple of hours to push stuff around and make food and then I’m off to get really sunburned and have a great day.
another lovely day
Little bit of writing, not much, on task and not.
Trip to IKEA. I don’t know much but I do know where every family with kids under five goes for lunch on Sunday. The IKEA cafeteria was like the front gate of hell early this afternoon.
We acquired, in our forwards, backwards and then forwards again continuously interrupted powerwalk through IKEA, new skissors since the old big one died after being used to cut Christ knows what the hell it was candidly but the duct tape purty much finished off the big pair. I killed the little pair by trying to use them on something too fat and plasticky. Also more pillowcases since my old pillows went to the spare room after I got these extremely hotel pillow like objects. MMMM. My bed is a place I do not wish to leave. Also a footrest for under my desk if I ever unbury it. Guess that means I have to leave my bed.
I have to shift laundry and make a snack (previously promised) for Jeff. The dieting to reduce salt, sugar, refined carbs and dairy fat is going okay. Raw nuts thank god are allowed, or I’d feel so deprived. Still drinking milk, but two thirds less and no coffee, so no requirement for cream. Sigh. It just makes my heart pound and I’m bad for that already.
cheerful
I had a lovely day which included
in no order
getting some optical calcite (rainbow rock) to start a rock collection here for Alex
putting a footstool downstairs so I’m not longer wrecking my arches on the coffee table
Getting rid of an entire immense bag of clothes after a brutal sort
walking around New West for a while with Katie
helping her clean the LR at Planet Bachelor
talking talking talking with her
Listening to half of the Billie Eilish album that came out in March (wooo, she’s EIGHTEEN folks talk about a gold star for homeschooling)
washing the kitchen carpets
watching Alita Battle Angel which I loved
and writing a whole bunch on different projects
this is the kind of bullshit Indigenous parents deal with
shouldna worried
If Alexis is wandering into cafés and saying je prendrais le plat du jour I don’t imagine she’s doing too badly.
Paul is in Winthrop, or close to there, the Enumclaw folks are having a flyin. I hope the weather’s better for soaring than it is here, as candidly it sucks.
I really enjoyed Good Omens, and I’m rewatching select little bits of it.
I’m going to have a pork and lettuce wrap. That is all.
a little worried
Got rellies in France right now, during a tremendous heatwave. I pray for their health and safe return.
I am so dumb
Downloaded the upgrade to finale and forgot to check system requirements.
It loaded perfectly and it works perfectly…. there’s just no audio playback because ‘the instrument selected will not load. I’m kicking myself
Tuesday 9 am
Let’s see.
Started watching Lucifer on Netflix. My god Tom Ellis has the single most punchable face, but he’s also quite compelling.
Going swimming tonight with Katie and Alex and possibly Keith and Suzanne (the ex-co-mother-in-common-law).
My blood pressure is insane. Since the last time I gave blood it’s skyrocketed. (Won’t put numbers here, that’s a bad notion.)
4400 words on the fanfic so far.
Great day
Started with brekky with Katie, then Fast Color with Jeff (recommended movie), then a shopping expotition with Keith, then another thousand words on the fanfic, then supper at Patsara with Mike.
Sanguinity achieved.
oh…. forgot to mention. Alex is a fan of Five Nights with Freddy, which is a supremely age-inappropriate game he ran across on the internet. When chided for his taste he announced, “I just love the characters,” which is so like his uncle at that age you wouldna believe. He was put on the phone by his mother and immediately lyrically thanked me. I managed to give him a tshirt of his fave character (I had no idea). He wore it as a nightshirt because see above about NOT AGE APPROPRIATE and he would not take the damned thing off when he got up so go me I guess. Hands the phone back to his momma and she said, “I did not prompt that. I did not. I must be doing something right,” so that’s when I told her the story of how Keith, within six months of being the same age, had lyrically thanked his Auntie Ruth for the lovely meal she’d cooked for us. I guess it’s a family thing. Such a loving boy. He is so, so sweet.
In what will come as no surprise to my brother I have recognized that IMDB is a fucking hell hole. goodbye
Heart back in me
My blood pressure is completely godawful. Paul’s, no surprise, is perfect. I shall get the medical help I need but I’m pouting.
Mike called; he’ll be heading back soon.
Keith and I are buying clothes for him Saturday afternoon at THE TEMPLE OF MAMMON aka Metrotown.
Wonderful wonderful phone call with Tammy this morning. She had a bit of bad news but sounded much cheered when I got off the phone, which is after all the whole point to having friends, someone to share the ups and downs with.
2100 words into a fanfic I started three days ago.
I have found a fantastic tool for the removal of facial hair.
Fraser Foreshore
Paul took me to this park. Normally we park at the bottom of Byrne and turn left, but this time we turned right (the path runs all the way past Kerr) and walked. We saw a Great Blue Heron land super close and talked for about half an hour with this lovely middle aged white guy who talked about what all that land looked like 50 years ago.
I SAW MY FIRST MUSKRAT since I moved to the lower mainland. He said, when I said I’d never seen one, “One lives in this pond.” And I know this will sound like bullshit, but Paul was there; the man waved his arm, and the muskrat APPEARED. wild.
After, LA Sushi and a quick trip to replace my raincoat (better and cheaper than the last one, strangely.) Also picked up N95 filters, since it’s only a matter of time before something catches fire again.
taking a teeny break
I don’t feel like writing, the wind is really gusting and it sounds scary.
