Back from the Partay

Jeff and I are just back from collecting the Mr. Two from Dundas Street, where it was parked overnight after we hung out at Jim’s party.  Keith came along as well.  A substantial chunk of Jim’s old band was there and they backed me up on Buy Me A Beer, which I managed to get through quite creditably considering how impaired I was, and playing it on the ‘wrong’ instrument, being Jim’s acoustic guitar.  Jim also got me singing An Evening of Serious Drinking.  Oh, those hot wings!  and Otto-man was there, big hugs.  First reunion of the Lunch Bunch in about five years.  We’ve had three out of four multiple times, but not four out of four…. Being me, Mike, Tom U and Jerome.

Anyway, it was a fabulous time and Mike drove me, Jerome and Brian C. home as he had spent several hours only drinking pop prior to going home.   Now brunch and then I’m taking Keith to MEC to go parkour shoe shopping.  Grosses Bises everybody!!!

Sundry and various

Mom and baby moose.

A plug for the hilariously named Reifel Bird Sanctuary.

I have learned I can still apply for my FAC (the gun licence thing).  I am going to.  My to do list is growing like a six foot across amoeba while I watch in hor-ror.  So what am I going to do about it? Party!  Jim E.’s stag tonight so he’s invited people, alcohol and musical instruments into his home.  I intend to be there and make a joyful noise or two.

I have substantially completed my May 3rd homily and have forwarded the order of service to the service coordinator. So at least one thing came off the list.  I also picked out a new hymn and ran it through the music interpreter to figure out if I liked the tune or not…

food etc

Katie Paul and Keith picked me up from work yesterday and I drove them home and fed them spaghetti.

KATIE HAS A MOHAWK.  She looks awesome.  But it’s not one of those mohawks where you cut hair, it was mostly made out of hairspray.  She also got supergoth makeup.  I should post pics when I recover from the squealing I made.

Then Keith and Paul and I went swimming.  I came home and Katie told me she’d cleaned Miss Margot, and she was still pretty dirty.  Soon, the bath.

Miss Margot continues her plans for global domination

In direct contravention of the breeder’s request, I am letting her out on the back deck.  This is made easier by the fact that she comes back in when you call her. I don’t want to get her a collar but I will have to now that she is going outside.

She and Gizmo ate next to each other yesterday and touched noses.

I’m glad I made it to work, Tanya’s sick, poor baby.  Of course when a massively pregnant woman calls in sick everybody is hopping from one foot to the next predicting imminent parturition.

Miss Margot purred and purred and purred this morning.  She is a most companionable critter.

Jeff caught her doing parkour on the livingroom furniture yesterday.

Visitor

Carrie is here on her way to a new home up in Telegraph Creek. I’m working so I won’t get to see her much before she leaves in the RV, but she’ll be back for her boyfriend John’s daughter’s wedding in June and we’ll be able to hang out more then.

The cherry blossoms are starting to fall already. Vancouver is a big pile of flowering trees and shrubs right now.

The weather was gorgeous yesterday.

Lovely dinner at Lexi and Rob’s

Darwin was adorable, and it was very pleasant to watch Keith interact with him for the first time.  Lexi fed us roast chicken and oven roasted potatoes and salad and asparagus.  Katie sluiced back quite a bit of wine; I managed to hold the line at a single beer.

Today I roasted a beast and fed the boys dinner and watched a bit of Battlestar Galactica and did a shop with Jeff and slept in.  I really took it easy… and there’s lots of yummy leftovers for tomorrow.

I feel very happy and relaxed at the moment.

Oh, and we watched Cat  Ballou with Keith.  That was a riot.

Canucks win 3 zip over St Louis. Many horns honk.

I am quite sure all the bars in town breathed a sigh of relief.

Paul stopped by on his way back into town.  His sis and bro-in-law are doing famously – she is starting to do doula work in rural Alberta, which is exciting.  Lois always was one of my fave people.  Their mom Phyllis is also, apparently, well, and my hat’s off to her given what a challenge it is to fly solo when you’re up in your eighties and not so mobile as you once were.

Miss Margot just gave me a demonstration of what Jeff has had to put up with these last few weeks, by climbing up my bare leg with her claws.  I am so proud of myself for not screaming.

Keith is coming over today, and then later we’ll be off to Lexi, Darwin and Rob’s for dinner.  Katie has been contacted and advises she is coming too.

There is a housefilk today (I got the dates wrong) AND a party at Mike’s tonight. Why does all the fun have to pile up in one day?  I wish I could bilocate.  Or trilocate.

CSI has either jumped the shark or is warming it up backstage.  They did a Star Trek knockoff episode, although having Grace Park in the audience was a nice touch. We’ll see if they’re back on the game next week.

ScaryClown liked my word crapstack (which I introduced on this blog a mite ago) and has made it more official sounding by putting ‘metric’ in the front.  Doesn’t a ‘metric crapstack of work’ sound official?  I quite like it.
